When Tanner and Sydee reached out to me about photographing their wedding at Haven’s Ranch in Winnemucca, Nevada, I knew it wasn’t going to be your average wedding day. This day was built on grit, grace, and big blue sky—the kind of Western magic that makes my cinematic-loving heart soar.
It wasn’t a ballroom; it was raw Nevada dirt. It wasn’t formal floral arrangements; it was the honest beauty of the high desert. And as a photographer who specializes in the “this-is-so-us” moments, I couldn’t have asked for a better canvas.
The Space: Haven’s Ranch
Let me tell you, Haven’s Ranch is a hidden gem for the couple who wants an authentic Western celebration. This venue doesn’t try to hide the environment; it embraces it. Tanner and Sydee had ample space to plan both their ceremony and reception. The site includes a sweet little building that’s perfect for food coverage, ensuring the sagebrush stays where it belongs while keeping the food protected.
They also have a fantastic covered reception area and a dance floor that was made for kicking up dust in your scuffed-up boots (which we did).
The Magic in the Details
Tanner and Sydee carefully articulated a day that felt beautifully authentic to them. While there were plenty of unique touches, my personal favorite “prop” was the Longhorns. There is nothing that says “Nevada wedding” quite like a cinematic portrait with these magnificent animals. It added a level of authenticity and raw power that you just can’t replicate in a studio.

But the true magic wasn’t the venue or the props; it was the emotion. This day was full of the real, raw connection that I am always chasing. It was the look on Tanner’s face when Sydee walked down the aisle, the wind in her hair, and the loud, joyous laughs shared among their loved ones.
